Shopping in Milano, Italy, a short guide.
People we meet around the world often ask us about shopping the Milanese fashion, and as Milano is our hometown we’re glad to share a few thoughts with you.
Shopping in Milan is outstanding, and this chic Italian city is regarded as a magnet for individuals with a keen eye for the latest trends. However, in addition to the famous names in the fashion business that decorate the “Quadrilatero della Moda” (fashion district) with eye-catching window displays, the city also has artisan ateliers and small boutiques. Our favourite ones!!
Other question is: if shopping in Milan is expensive?
Like in every big city, there are neighbourhoods that sell high-end, pricey luxury items. But there are others where you can bargain for the best offer. Remember that price usually reflects quality. Having said that, Italy is a country that enjoys sales, so if you come between January and July, you'll most likely discover deals.
Is Milan good for shopping?
Yes, indeed! The city is a shopping paradise, boasting some of the best shopping in the country. World-famous fashion houses, designer boutiques, and high-end department stores coexist with smaller concept stores, boutiques, and weekly markets. The best designer stores may be found on Via Montenapoleone and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (downtown). For smaller, specialist boutiques, visit Brera (artist's area) and Corso Como (night owls district), while Navigli (waterways district) and Porta Ticinese have several thrift and vintage shops.
If you are not happy with what you can get in town, we know where you may go, not far from town, to buy major brands at cheaper prices.
Let’s go shopping!
