The Italian Mediterranean Diet
A healthy Lifestyle
Sardinia (Italy), precisely the Ogliastra region, is one of the five Blue Zones in the world, identified as having residents who frequently reach 90 years or older, with some even living beyond 100.
There are two kind of longevity; one is increasing years in our life the other is to increase life in our years.
Longevity is 25% genetic and 75% lifestyle, which means that the way we live, eat, think, spend our time with, and devote our energy to, has a greater impact on how long we live than our DNA.
In this region, people eat the fruits and vegetables that are available that season, so everything is fully nutritious, natural, and organic, and they don't even take much medication because they live off the land, and they have regular exercise that is natural to the rhythm of their body.
However, social interaction and the value of community are the most important reasons for longevity.
Care and attention from family members, as well as involvement in the community and activities, all contribute to the maintenance of a healthy mental state, which is critical to their overall well-being.
Community has far more power than any physician to create health; communication leads to community, which leads to intimacy, which leads to mutual value.
As I like to say when opening my seminars: “This lifestyle is the fundamental pillar of the Mediterranean Diet. The three key element that determine how healthy a meal is, are: the quality of the food, the preparation method and the good company”.
Thank you for following.
